[rescue] FDDI in the real world babble

I'm braindead tonight, so I am going to babble in generalities, but not
that long ago (yr?) when I was troubleshooing more than now, and I'd be
doing  err. uhh. ...yes! _traceroutes_ I;d find packets going thru FDDI
backbones .. sprint/mci class networks.. Of course, then I;d find yself
going thru OC-x y & z networks too. BUT MY POINT is that FDDI can still
vertainly be useful and viable.. and hellovalot cheaper than gigabit.
