That's what I thought, but I wasn't sure if there was an issue with the
minimum length and reflection or something. I've seen jumper cables in
test packs as short as 4 inches, but I can't remember seeing them much
shorter.

Well, there are some pretty painful ways to lose that ability. A scene
from Catch-22 comes to mind, although if you manage to do that making or
using a crossover cable, that's pretty impressive.
