  Uhh, what?  Who told you that?  Pointer arithmetic is fine, and is a
very effective way to get things done, when it's the right tool for
the job.  There is nothing bad about it.  You have to be careful with
it, sure...just like, oh, driving a car or pissing without turning the
bathroom light on.
