That's because that's not C.  That's the crapulous ass-boil known as C++.
C code can look amazingly clean; perhaps not as clean as Pascal code, but
definitely clean.  C++ code never ceases to amaze me in it's sheer
ugliness.  Hell, even Bjarne's examples in _The_C++_Programming_Language_
tend to look like either a beginner's first attempts at programming or
some smart-ass's attempt at cramming a maximal number of operators and
indirections on a single line of code.

I miss Pascal, especially Borland's dialect of Object Pascal.  I wonder if
FPK has gotten good-enough on non-x86 platforms as to be ready for actual
usage.
