   Outdoor pizza ovens, baby.
I used to work in a pizza place answering phones dispatching delivery
drivers, and driving sometimes. For two summers I got to help at "Taste of
Minnesota," a 4th of July food festival where this restaurant had a booth.
The first year, Lizard Jim, the drunken restaurant manager, pre-heated our
portable gas ovens and then wandered off for a couple of hours to find some
coffee and detoxify.
When the rest of us showed up with a truck full of premade pizzas, the
first test pizza flashed into a vulcanized saucer with a puff of smoke. The
thermometer's needle stuck at the high end -- 800 degrees -- after a
moment's contact with the oven.
Fortunately, the temperature rose to 104 that day, so we were able to
sweat off most of the weight we would have gained by the food-swapping we
did with people from the other booths! :7) In light of the discussion of
excessive water intake, I'm gald we all traded for iced coffees (with lots
of chololate syrup)...
