[rescue] sparc 5 install issues

Hi there,

I've acquired a Sparcstation 5 and the free Solaris 8 binaries I'd like
to play with. I've tried to install the stuff using an external Yamaha
SCSI cd-rom drive (cdr-400t in scsi case). After figuring out the Sparc
expects the cd-rom on SCSI id 6 I've got it to the point the SunOS
kernel will boot, but after a few seconds the machine resets with an
error "vfs_mountroot: cannot mount root".
Manually entering the root fs didn't help.
Anyone got an idea?

Btw. I'm aware of the "block size" jumper on the back of the cd-rom
drive ("for UNIX systems"), but changing the setting didn't help...
