Don't buy a cheap or old-and-beat-up LD player. I have over a hundred
LDs, and I watch them all the time. I have *never* had an alignment
issue, or any other problems for that matter.

Umm, yes, and I can even tell you how they work. (They also don't
have MPEG compression artifacts. :)) The light that my video projector
squirts out is analog too. ;)
That's not to say that I'm not a fan of digital *everything*, because
I am. I just don't like the can't-fast-forward-past-it marketing and
FBI bullshit at the beginning of DVD movies, and I don't like paying
through the nose for them.
I guess what I'm trying to say is...I don't DISLIKE DVDs...I just
like LDs more, currently.
