[rescue] Is it dead?

Hook a terminal (or pc with null modem cable and terminal software)
to serial A, set the diag switch to diag and power on.  It should
tell you where the problem is.  Did you fill the memory bank with
4meg or 16 meg simms?  It supposedly won't work with 1meg simms.
