Not sure what MAU means in this pic.  15-pin D jack on the host?

The transceivers I use have 15-pin D and RJ-45 jacks.  A short 15-pin cable 
from host to transceiver, longer RJ-45 with cat3 or cat5 from transceiver to 
hub/switch.

Xover is for host to host or switch to switch.  Straight thru for host to 
switch.
