This has definitely been occupying many cycles in my mind the past 8
months. Before I got into a computer related job I managed an indie cd
shop..sure it was great, I did whatever I wanted, but I was absolutely
poor. At that time, I kept recalling a line from a Weird Al song: "If
money can't buy happiness, I guess I'll have to rent it."

Now after spending three days straight working to meet deadlines..
working months on end with no weekend and 15 hr days, what do I have to
show for it? The pride I had in my work is gone because the company is
gone. It's simply not worth it to be that aggressive unless you're the
CTO or one of the founders etc.

Moral of the story? Find a job at a big stable place with enough admins
that you can take a vacation w/o getting called every 30 minutes.

I almost wish there would be an EMP attack, too bad it affects
life-support systems too :(
