Disturbingly, this would actually be a very effective attack. When I last looked at the (documented) topology of the Andover cage in Exodus about six months ago, ALL of the traffic pasted through a SINGLE FreeBSD packet filtering box. I am no fan of the Andover network "engineers".

Far more interesting, though, is the thought of getting underneath the cage's raised floor, and kinking the cat5 at random. Given the demonstrated troubleshooting ability of the Andover staff, this could provide WEEKS of amusement. Hmmm. Do we have any operatives at Exodus/Waltham with access to a tile puller?
