Two pinches ... an engineer from SGI has said it's complete rubbish in 
comp.sys.sgi.hardware

Mind you, it's just possible that they've discovered something *really* 
nasty about the Itanium when sliding it into the O3000. And they also 
stopped the Pro64 project (moving the MIPSpro compilers to IA64) a 
while back.
