http://www.arkham.ws/complab/PI_4d-35.html

if you go there and it doesn't work that means i'm trying to fix the network.
the FDDI card in the firewall is acting funny, so i skipped around the FDDI
ring with ethernet into the webserver.

speaking of which, this is what i'm seeing:

if i nuke the arp entry for a host, and if i ping that host, the ping fails,
but the counter in netstat -rn for nf0 is incremented by one.

if i ping again, the counter is not touched.

if i ping an ip that doesn't exist on the ring, the counter is incremented
by 20.

so, link layer seems to be mostly working, but ip looks broken. all other
machines can ping each other, and the ring is solid.

does anyone have any idea at all what could be causing this? i sure hope it
isn't a bad FDDI card (which worked fine yesterday btw).

thanks!!

-brian

ps: holy crap i F-ed up. if www.arkham.ws resolves to 172.16.1.2 please wait
and try again. i totaly screwed the pooch on this one. :)
