Isn't MVS the OS used on IBM S/390 machines?  If so, then it is still in
use (and is even selling new copies), and it is the end all and be all of
stability.  MS claims 99.999% uptime, but IBM will guaranty it if you pay
them enough.   And to deliver it they use S/390 machines.
