as a quick one off, or in the case where you only have the console hooked up
every once in a while, or don't care about the loose connector, sure. but....

i want to do this too.  now i personally don't want the serial cables for my
consoles to be an "unknown quantity" when i'm in a rush to fix things (well,
ok, these are home systems, so i would never be in a *rush*, but you know what
i mean *G*)

as soon as i catch up on my bills (couple of weeks of unemployment sunk me)
i'm going to go out and find a crimp tool with MMJ and buy a boatload of ends
and whatnot.  let me know if you find anywhere to pick this stuff up.
