So I went down to the Center of Wonderful Devices at university the
other day, and picked myself up a pair of `we're not even sure if
these work' Suns, a SPARCstation 1+ (which works beautifully) and an
IPX[0]. Lacking the motivation to hook up a monitor and a keyboard to
these beasts, I was talking to them over the serial console.
Again, the 1+ worked great, but I couldn't get any data out of the
serial port on the IPX. I note that the serial port on it is labelled
A/B, implying it is one of those evil two-ports-in-one jobs. I'm
wondering if this could be what's burning me, as I lack the splitter
to make it useful.
Alternatively it could be that the IPX is just shot.
Any ideas?
[0]: I am sooo pissed. They had a pair of 5s and a 4 that I would've
loved to get had *any* of them had any memory.
