It's separate. I got mine from Sun a couple of years ago for $50, only to
find out when I tried to install it that the batteries on the prestoserve were
bad.
The batteries are not field repairable per the FEH, but I was able to locate
spares (mouser or digikey, can't remember) and replace them. It was a fairly
straightforward de-solder/re-solder job. They are eagle-pitcher batteries,
BTW.
HINT: make sure the switch is in the OFF position when it's not installed and
running.
I'd recommend trying an "archived" copy to make sure your hardware is OK
before shelling out bucks.
