Let's rephrase that as 'MIPS as a workstation processor appears to be
mostly dead'? SGI doesn't have a current workstation model based on MIPS
-- the Octane2 is, quite frankly, not really up-to-date. And the Onyx
3200 is hardly 'selling like hotcakes' -- sure, we've had ours for a
couple of months now, so I guess there are more than two of them in
Germany now, but ...

On the other hand, I'd really like to get my hands on a VW 550 or 770 --
as far as Wintel machines go, these appear to be quite decent machines.
