It's still leaded because if you use a more volatile mix, like the xylene
and toluene additives, they can evaporate at the reduced pressures during
high altitude flight.

Also, the lead is a lubricant, and helps extend the life of the aircraft
certified motors, most of which were designed during or just after world war
II....
