[rescue] Cycle 5 system

My research confirms what Gil says, although
I didn't have 30-pin SIMMs greater than 4MB
to test with (so if it *does* work, Mike,
then I'll be in the market for 30-pin 16MB
SIMMs).

I wouldn't expect it to work, though, based
on the shoe-horning that they needed to do
in order to let the Cycle 5 upgrade boards
re-use the SPARC 2 memory while providing
an upgrade path. The memory controller has
probably got enough to do with 128MB (which
ours has as 16x4MB [30-pin parity] plus 2x32MB
[72-pin FPM parity] in the expansion slots).

The 110MHz cycle 5, which I picked up for
~$150 with 64MB of memory a year ago, is
one of my favorite machines. The only downside
was the 2GB LOUD Seagate drive, which I put
in a less important system and which has
since died.

I think Cycle's raison d'etre was/is pretty cool,
but I *really* wish that I could find one of
their "upgrade an Ultra 1/2 to a four-processor
capable motherboard" kits on eBay, though...

Hey Mike, what OBP revision does yours have?
