The cable had a *big* nasty two-piece ferrite *bar* across the cable, so I couldn't twist it :^(
Of all my complaints, the one I dislike the most is the need to hard-wire the CR-ROM to a particular address - granted, it may never be an issue, but that nice SCSI ID selector is just going to waste...
I bet an IDE-based CD-RW drive would work in the Blade 100 IDE, the CDRECORD software should work OK - but you could already figure out the logic, the real question is the reality, and that I can not speak to.
You know, Sun is shipping CDRECORD on their "Companion" CD for Solaris 8 on SPARC, there must be a readme-type document that could address that question...

I usually am able to "twist" the SCSI cable so that I can plug it in
correctly without having to "flip" the connector on the case.. tight,
but it works.

Anybody used an IDE burner w/Solaris on an IDE-based sparc yet? I havent
tried anything with my SunBlade yet.
