Get yourself some Coleman lantern mantles.  They have enough radioactive
thorium in them to make a rad-counter go nuts.

Then you can get enough of them, come up with a way to bombard them with
neutrons...*poof* you get uranium-233, another isotope of uranium that's
fissionable.
