Okay,
So we have a unique situation here. We have a Sun E450 with a ADIC scalar
218 DLT library attached. The device shows up in the probe-scsi-all from t=
he
PROM, however, when I do a reconfigure reboot, it doesn't show up. I know=
=20
that in terms of the SCSI chain it can be seen. From the OS level, I have
tried to do the following:
1. modload -p drv/st
2. drvconfig
3. tapes
After the modload, I have verified that the module gets loadad by doing a=
=20
modinfo | grep -i tape and I get the following:
82 ff702000 f42e 33 1 st (SCSI tape Driver 1.191)
However, after running drvconfig, the st module gets unloaded, no device fi=
les
are created in /devices and therefore no links are made to /dev/rmt by the=
=20
tapes command. The tape drives are DLT 4000 models. I've even gone in and=
=20
edited the /kernel/drv/st.conf file to make sure that the DLT tape drives a=
re
seen (all of the: DLT-data, DLT-7k, etc.). Still no go. I would assume th=
at=20
this tape drive would be supported under the st driver (kind of like how ta=
pe
drives are supported under Linux's generic SCSI driver). Am I wrong? The=
=20
PROM command probe-scsi-all gives the following info:
/pci at 1f,4000/scsi at 2
Target 4=20
Unit 0 Removable Device type 8 ADIC Scalar DLT 448 0105
It's just no showing up once the OS is booted. Anyone got ideas? I would =
like
to back up this box. I'm considering getting third party software that does
support this drive, but if the OS doesn't support it and see it, then would=
n't
that be a waster of time/money?
