NeWS was still around up through Solaris 2.3.  Heck, 4.1.4 still supported
SunView.  I used to run about a dozen IPC's with ECL mono monitors
(upgraded from 3/60's way back) which ran a SunView/Sybase APT data entry
app through the Y2K rollover.
