I could conceive of it making a difference depending on what kind of files
the IPC would be storing.  For instance you might have problems playing
MP3's directly off of the Samba share because of the speed of the machine,
size of the file, etc.  If you're doing just standard file serving where
you're not storing like say Audio/Video files and such you should be able to
use the slower drive with no problem.  However in the long run the faster
drive is always a better option all around - they're just a little more
expensive usually.

It all depends on what you're storing.
