For the IIfx, they made all these claims that the IIfx had the fastest SCSI
of any Mac, which it didn't; they said the new memory type would be used on
future Macs, which it wasn't, which meant all that investment in memory was
wasted; they said the system would be upgradeable, but it was discontinued.
For A/UX, the major issue was they dropped it completely. They also never
properly supported the GPi pin on the serial ports, claiming that not all
Macs had the GPi pin, but all Macs that could run A/UX did have the GPi pin,
and it could have been a configuration option anyway.
I sold my loaded IIfx with A/UX and bought a Wintel box to run Linux. Actually,
I originally was going to run BSD, but all the infighting and bitching in the
BSD crowd turned me off.
