[rescue] Adding IBM 18GB drives to an U30

Happy Holidays everyone.  I decided that the holidays should come a 
little faster this year, so I treated myself to two 18GB IBM SCA drives 
to upgrade my U30 workstation.  

I backed up all my data onto tape, removed the existing drives and 
popped in the 18GB'ers.  

I booted a Solaris8 install cd (boot cdrom -r) and all was well... 
formatted, installed mini-root, rebooted again.

However I keep getting a 'trap 3a' on boot and dropped to the OK prompt 
right after the banner.  I've never seen this and it's making me 
crazy.  I can type 'boot diskX' and boot right off the drive, but 
autoboot no worky.  (boot device is set correctly)

Just as a test, I popped the old drives back in and all is well.

Any ideas?
