just get a switch and about 100' of 26 or 28 gauge enameled wire, carefully
wrap it in a coil around the offending drive. Flip the switch, you have a
degaussing field.... I have no idea if it would be strong enough to
permanently scramble things, but it would make it 100% certainly
unuseable...
