My rules, self-imposed so we never get to the point that she feels she
needs to make some:

1: No junk. It all works, or would if I put it together.
2: It has to fit in the $machine_room.

Yes, having a dedicated $machine_room is a Good Idea. Especially if it
has a door that closes it off from public view.
