Hi Bill,

I don't know if anyone mentioned it yet, but for quick & dirty, have you
looked at that linux router project?  it's a tiny linux kernel that you
put on a floppy made specifically for doing this with security in mind.
never used it myself, but a friend of mine was running this as a home
firewall for awhile and had good things to say about it. the url is:

at least you wouldn't have to do much setup, you can just download the
kernel images, iirc.
