I have to agree with you there <AOL>! 

Seriously though I have a P3 450 on my desk that is used to run Win2K
(not my choice - but at the time nothing else had video drivers
for the card)  and all I use it for it to run Exceed for my X session.
The machine itself is wasted doing what it is doing (just a display)
and to be honest will be rebuilt with either Solaris 8 or FreeBSD
when I have the time and can live without my X session for a couple
of days.  I do like 1280 x 1024 on a 19" monitor - just a tad irritated
that the monior is not quite so happy at 1600x1200  :-)

In the meantime the SS10 (which I have blagged to head homewards) probably
does more work than the PC...
