I think if we added up the list prices of all the equipment we have laying
around our respective places, we might be shocked at the total- it's not
just the CPU's, but all the other things like the extra memory, upgraded
graphics, bigger disks, tape drives, networking infrastructure, etc.- things
that were correspondingly expensive at the time. Pretty soon you're talking
real money! <grin>

SGIs are the same way.  I inherited an Indy and an Indigo 2 from a previous
place of employment and was thrilled.  A business acquaintance came by my
house one evening and told me that I "must be doing well" because I could
afford two $10K - $25K engineering workstations.  He was bug-eyed when I
told him I got them for free. ;-)

Think about it guys - this was once a SOLD, SUPPORTED FACTORY CONFIG!

People were *glad* to have machines like this!

We're all just spoiled rotten with machines now.  Once upon a time, this was
the latest "hot box".  People would kill to have their own SPARCs on their
desk...
