You're definately spoiled!  I used an IPC with 24Mb of ram and a cg6 as
my development Unix box at work recently.  I had Solaris 2.6 on it
(running Openwin, NOT cde) and found it a little slow when compiling
things, but quite usable (I even managed to compile MySQL on it, it took
several goes and a >300Mb swap file, but I did it).

I've got the box at home now and am using it as my jumpstart server
(again Solaris 2.6), I'm just about to deploy another running OpenBSD as
an SSL web server.  You may think I'm slightly mad, but my Internet link
is a 28.8k modem, so I don't think the IPC will get much of a work out.

I've also resisted the temptation to upgrade my desktop box (PPro200) in
the pursuit of more MHz, it's plenty fast enough for me.
