[SunRescue] NVRAM nessage at boot on SS2

Hi all
I recently installed a new NVRAM chip on SS2 after battery failure. I 
carried out procedure as per FAQ. I've done this previously with no problems.

When rebooting I get "POST failed. replace NVRAM". Everything else OK. I've 
left switched off for days. Still functions OK.

Have I got a bad chip, or am I doing something fundamentally wrong?
