pixel and which is used to refresh a raster image. The term "video memory"
suggests a fairly static display whereas a frame buffer holds one frame from
a sequence of frames forming a moving image.

Frame buffers are found in frame grabbers and time base correction systems,
for example.

What is a framebuffer? I have heard that term used several times before, but
I don't know what it means. Is it a buffer that is on the motherboard or for
a video output?

Mike N recently posted "... I was thinking more like OpenBSD which supports
the framebuffer."  Does this imply that Red Hat (or any other) Linux on a
SPARC does NOT support it?
