[SunRescue] 386i/250 booting

the machine seems to start fine, but when it attempts to start 
services it stops with these messages:

ie0: problem with network connection. Check cables and tranceivers.

yp: server not responding for domain "olympus"; still trying.

this machine was previously attached to a network and no doubt it is 
looking for it. i want to set it up as a stand alone for now... but i don't 
know how to get into it to change the settings.

i am also wondering if this might be evidence of the dreaded 
NVRAM failure i have read about in some other threads.
