[SunRescue] Suns going to the junkyard

I just have to share with you. Something horrible...

I talked to one of our biggest sponsors the other day, Sun, to see if I
could get my hands on any equipment for our computer club. Sure, I got
to the person responsible for taking care of trade-ins, which happen
alot.
He had been away for a week so I couln't reach him until the other day.
He told me "a pity you couldn't reach me earlier, cause then I could
have saved alot of equipment for you".

Apparently they dumped almost _two_full_trucks_ with equipment for
recycling.
He said it included some 150+ SS4/5 and atleast 50+ SS10!

Can anyone imagine, how I almost a sudden was ready to burst into
tears?!?
He percistently told me I didn't want the machines. Apparently they've
been so beaten up by the shipment, that they looked more like they've
been dropped from the 5th floor or something.

(The story has a happy ending though)

The only advice he could give me, was to talk to Suns customers instead.
If I could manage to pick up equipment at their place instead, and just
inform Sun of whatever serialnumbers/models involved (to give the
customer it's fair "trade-in"), we sure could get the equipment for
free! Heck, sounds like a wonderful deal, so I did.
Right now I'm waiting for a call to confirm that we have "green light"
to go get whatever stuff available.
I'll tell more about this later, when it's arriving.

        /Regards, Bjorn
