501-2247 is the "configured" code.  It means that you have a 501-2336 CPU
board that originally came with 8 8MB SIMMs.

Yes.  Not all SM51 modules are cleared to work in the SS1000, but from
memory they should all function.  Heat would be an issue with early
modules but with only 2 installed you should be ok.

Closest to the XDBus connector.

J2800, J2900, J3000, J3100, J3200, J3300, J3400, J3500.

If you upgrade to 2 boards then use J2800-J3100 on each board.

You do have the 40MHz control board (501-1979) installed, right?

Blatant plug: I have several copies of the latest SS1000 boot PROMs (2.31)
brand new for $20 per kit.  You may need to upgrade to use 3.x SuperSparc
CPU's (some SM51's and SM61's), SuperSparc-II CPU's (SM71/SM81) and
hme/SunSwift cards.  Check the part numbers on your EPROMs.
