[SunRescue] Using HP 2247....

Okay, I don't read every message that comes to me in digest mode, but I remember
seeing something yesterday (I think) about using NCR external enclosures with Suns
and some problems that could occur.  Could someone please tell me what these
problems could be?  I have a 4 disk external enclosure with 4 2 gig HP drives in
there (can't get PN's I'm at work now), and every time I hook it up to one of my
Sparcs, I can probe it, but I can't format anything, just the dreaded 'bad magic
number - can't read label' error.  I don't see how 4 drives could all be bad.  The
enclosure came from a working environment, and all the drives were formatted
hardcore style (it came from GE.. go figure).  Has anyone ever ran into this
problem before?  Is it possible to nuke a drive so bad that it can never be used
again (without kicking it)?
