This is incorrect, I've run Solaris 2.4 on a 4/330 with a 1.0 PROM.  Once
the box is booted it should just work.

You need 3.0.1 to support 4MB SIMMs, though.  I remember the 1.0 PROM box
had some weird issues with the P4 GX card, the PROM console worked fine at
poweron but after you ran X and went back to text it would turn into
garbage.
