Okay, I can't beat that, but here's how my Christmas eve went.
This is my first Christmas (my family hated one another and never did
such things), so I figured I'd go for a theme for Tara. She's a very
petite grrl (5', 105lbs), and always complaining that she's cold, so the
theme was "Keep Tara Warm".
I'd already gotten her a fuzzy sweater, and warm fuzzy socks for
"day-wear". Then came the Victoria's Secret sleepwear, to be prefaced
with the warm bath and the bubble bath. And, for an evening drink, a
nice bottle of Lagavulin single malt, to be had while holding the
(absolutely adorable) stuffed white bunny I got her.
So, this whole thing would have been complete, except for one,
unbelievably rare thing: bunny slippers.
I've spent the past month and a half, looking for bunny slippers. These
things are apparently more rare than the Dodo. I found Tony The
Tiger[tm] slippers, Pikachu[tm] slippers, Tweety and Sylvester[tm]
slippers, and the occasional pig or hippopotomus slippers. But no bunny
slippers. Most of yesterday was spent travelling around to
approximately 15 - 20 stores in our area with a friend in a last ditch
effort to hunt what appears to be an endangered species.
I WILL get the bunny slippers, if I have to make them myself. Urgh.
And, of course, Tara's very upset because my gift is half in New Jersey,
and half in Texas, stuck in shipping. So, I won't let her tell me what
I'm getting, and ruin the surprise.
But, aside from the damned rabbit feetwarmers, it was a very enjoyable
first Christmas. I think we'll do it again sometime next year. :)
Hope you folks are enjoying [insert holiday here]. Now to help prepare
a big dinner for the two of us. :)
Best wishes to all.
