After the Magic Smoke (tm) is released it's usually all over.
Seriously it's most likely, just a gut feel, the regulator in the flyback
circuit or something else in the power supply. I've had quite a few
machines go up in smoke on me and it's usually been power supply related.
(Even smoked one mayself by plugging the P/S in backwards. ;-) Hey, I was
young and foolish once...)
Regadless it's most likely not worth fixing. If you're quick you can
probably easily replace it:

Oh dear, you've let out the Magic Smoke (tm). :-)

Assuming that the SLC is like my ELC, there are plenty of things that could
break. Take out the board, and look for things that are burnt, it may be
possible to fix it just be replacing a few capacitors. If it's not obvious
what's burnt, then it may be a bit harder to fix. Later,
Greg
