Here's an odd idea:   Using a voltage regulator and a 12V gel-cell or L-ion
battery could you replace the floppy on cake-box systems to give them some
power-redundancy?  The only thing I can see that would cause a problem is
the POK signal but I'm sure that could be simulated.  (I know an external
UPS would be easier but I like to do odd hardware hacks.)

I'm sorry but I get these ideas from time to time and I have to share them
otherwise I don't know if they're worth anything when I lose them again.
