[SunRescue] SS2 DNS - stupid question?

Check your /etc/nsswitch.conf file. You probably need the 'dns' token
added
to the line for 'hosts'. Do a 'man nsswitch.conf' for lots of useful
information.
You can add the additional token and the lookup order will change
immediately
with no reboot. Also go to /etc and inspect the nsswitch.* files for
examples.
