[geeks] Good, cheap GPS?

Ten to twenty minutes? Good heavens! Either you live at the bottom of a well,
or _anything_ will be an improvement for you!

It's like this: I have a DeLorme PN-20 handheld that takes, oh... five
minutes to get a lock, most days -- and I consider this slow. (It was pretty
expensive when it was new, like $250 on sale.) I have since replaced it with a
PN-60, their current model -- which is a few years old now -- which locks on
in perhaps a minute.

The Geocaching.com web site has a discussion board, with a "Garage Sale"
section where you can go to get a feel for what things might cost these days:
        http://forums.groundspeak.com/GC/index.php?showforum=13
Looking at it right now, someone is selling an original etrex for $40.
*shrug* I am not saying you should buy that particular thing, but it's an
example of what's available. (You could certainly sign up for the free account
and then go into the section on GPS Hardware and ask for suggestions -- but
like any other specialist forum, you'll likely get "upsold" pretty quickly.
:7)
