Each of those FusionIO cards is specced at a hair under 500k IOPS.  At the
edge of their envelope nanoseconds matter.  From mails after this it sounds
like they are well inside the envelope, so raid5 probably wouldn't matter.
Even adding one nanosecond per IOP would be 0.0005 seconds per second,
which may not sound like much, but it adds up.

Anyway, all of this is irrelevant to this case, and I think based on
current info what he's doing is fine, if silly.
