I guess I should re-ask the question, because I realize I left a bit out.
My primary router is a Netgear N600... so the bridge needs to be able to
support it... i.e. the higher speeds and N band, etc.
The WRT54s are nice, but way outdated now in terms of signal ability and
speed.
