There is a app called Touch Term that has a free version as well as a
paid version - a web search (or iTunes search) should turn up
specifics, but the free version suffices for occasional use (but I
don't recall trying to do any "heavy lifting" with it). It does telnet
and SSH.

There's also a few handy network tools, including a ping 'scanner'
that will scan /24 range of addresses (for example
192.168.1.0-192.168.1.255) and highlight IP addresses where a response
is returned).
