I think you'll be happy with pretty much any major Linux or BSD distro
but the two big commercial distros are Suse and Redhat. Redhat by far
has the most 3rd party software support from vendors like Oracle and
IBM. Since this is for $work I assume that's what your boss would be
interested in that as well.
If you're looking for a no cost enterprise linux distro CentOS is the
way to go. It's essentially Redhat enterprise minus the redhat logos, so
generally anything that works in Redhat Enterprise will work in it.
