Couldn't agree more, we have two Petzl Tikka Plus head lamps (one each
for hubby and I).  I love them, and am planning on getting a third to
put in the glove box of the vehicle.  I keep mine in my bag I carry
back and forth to work.  I use it for working on computers, fishing
cat toys out from under the couch, and digging around in the dark
corners of the closet.

Petzl, Princeton, and Black Diamond all have their high/low lux listed
in the specs on the headlamps at rei.com.  I chose the Tikka based on
battery life and price instead of lux, since it's a general purpose
tool in our house.
